Glasgow -- Brendan Rodgers has denied any intention to take on the role of being the senior England national team manager, insists there is no way for him to resign from Celtic where he had just arrived.

The former Liverpool manager has been appointed as the new manager of the Scottish league champions in May, replacing Ronny Deila with a contract duration of 12 months.

Since that time Rodgers has been called one of the names to replace Roy Hodgson in the England team after they were knocked out of Euro 2016 with a humiliating defeat of Iceland in the last 16.

Even so, the 43-year-old manager has denied any negotiations for his resignation from his position as manager of Celtic.

Rodgers said, "I have not done anything wrong here, it was nice, and I saw Jose Mourinho was also rumored to it, he was also unbeaten. I will be at Celtic, I assure it.

"That shows you what kind of world football today, gossip and speculation are constantly there. I just get my dream job. The team I have supported all my life. I have not even play my first match here.

"Think of me as a Celtic supporter who resigned from the job at Parkhead! Does it make you flattered? This is football. There are some professions, very little, where one minute you over, then under, then over again, that's what happened today.

"If people think I can do the job at the highest level, then that's fine. But I'm busy here, worrying about what I should do here. "

Rodgers did not envy anyone who promptly appointed as England manager, which he felt in need of a team with a clear identity in order to give effect in major tournaments.

He added, "It's a difficult task, England. They have so many good players but there is great pressure, expectations were high.

"There is a large number of the players there. They have a remarkable talent in the England squad. But it was difficult for them in this tournament, and it has also been seen in some tournaments.

"So it is very unfortunate how Roy (Hodgson) ends, because he's a good person, a very good coach. They now have to appoint someone and had to make an identity, like what the team can play. "
